Agbozume (V/R), July 23, GNA — Torgbuiga Adama III, the Paramount Chief of Somè Traditional Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has called on the government to urgently address critical infrastructure challenges affecting communities within the enclave.
Torgbuiaga Adama made the appeal during the launch of the 2026 Somètutu Za in Adafienu, stressing the need for sustained intervention beyond coastal protection projects.
He commended the government for initiating the phase II of the Blekusu–Agavedzi Sea Defence Project but noted that affected communities also required restoration of livelihoods and the provision of essential infrastructure such as schools, markets, health facilities and transport systems.
The Paramount Chief also expressed concern over the prolonged water crisis in Agbozume and surrounding communities, which he said had persisted for about four years, placing a heavy burden on residents.
“Water is life. It is not luxury and must not become an issue that receives attention only during election periods,” he said, urging relevant authorities including the Member of Parliament, Regional Minister, Ghana Water Limited and the Ketu South Municipal Assembly, to provide a lasting solution.
He also appealed for the rehabilitation of poor road networks in the area, noting that the situation continued to affect trade, healthcare delivery, education, and emergency services.
Torgbuiaga Adama further called for investments in sanitation, drainage systems and other social infrastructure to improve living conditions.
He emphasised that the Somè Traditional Area deserved its fair share of national development and called for stronger collaboration between government and traditional authorities.
