Six people killed in latest Gaza Strip attacks

Tel Aviv, July 12, (dpa/GNA) – Palestinian media reported on Sunday, that at least six people, including a 9-year-old girl, have been killed by Israeli forces in separate incidents in the Gaza Strip, despite a ceasefire.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA said four people had been killed and several injured, in an Israeli drone strike on Sunday.  The news agency referred to “a metal workshop” in the northern part of the coastal strip, that had been struck during the afternoon.

The Israeli military later said it had targeted a weapons production facility belonging to Hamas, saying several members of the Islamist group were inside at the time of the attack.  The military accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement, by using the facility to manufacture components for weapons. WAFA also reported that two Palestinians, including a 9-year-old girl, had been killed by Israeli army fire in two separate incidents in the central Gaza Strip.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the army was not aware of these incidents. In the afternoon, a statement from the Israeli military said it had killed two members of Hamas in the north of the Gaza Strip during airstrikes in recent days.  According to the report, both were preparing attacks on Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip. The information provided by both sides cannot currently be independently verified.

Deaths are still being reported from the war-ravaged Gaza Strip on an almost daily basis, despite the ceasefire that has been in place there since October 2025.

The Gaza war was triggered by a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.  According to Gaza’s health authority, more than 1,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip since the start of the ceasefire.
