Sissala East NPP elects new Executives for the next four years

Tumu, (UW/R), July 14, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sissala East Constituency has successfully elected a new set of constituency executives to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.  

Mr Charles Oteng-Bonsra, the Sissala East Director of Elections of the Electoral Commission, supervised the election, which was held at the forecourt of the Tumu Community Centre. 

In the keenly contested election in the constituency, Mr Majeed Salifu was elected Constituency Chairman after polling 459 votes to defeat Mr Bilali Ibrahim, a former organiser, who secured 375 votes out of 834 valid votes cast, with 9 rejected ballots.  

Mr Asomenu Atta Robert, a former secretary, won the First Vice position with 407 votes, defeating Mr Balu Fuseini and Mr Basuglo Yakubu, who polled 359 and 58 votes respectively. 

For the secretary position, Mr Forkor Nandzo Peter polled 420 to surpass Kanyang Braimah Tommuah, who got 416 votes. 

Also, Mr Korro Beinjuah Samuel won the organiser position with 468 votes, while Din-ee Batong Mahama Hudu had 365. 

The incumbent women’s organiser, Madam Luri Fadila, retained her position with 574 votes, leaving behind her contenders, Madam Danlardi Mary Hadoho, with 106 votes, whilst Madam Dawuda Lubabatu got 161 votes. 

Mr Issah Attah, a national official who supervised the elections, called on the newly elected executives to unite the party and strengthen its grassroots structures to remain robust for 2028 general elction. 

In Gwollu in the Sissala West Constituency, the delegates, through a popular acclamation, approved all eleven executive members.  

After the process of acclamation, Sissala West District Electoral Commission Officer swore in all the executives, with Mr Abudu Shaibu Gbemmie becoming the chairman. 

Mr Tahiru Mahama was sworn in as First Vice Chairperson, and a former District Chief Executive, Mr Mahamud Forkah being Second Vice Chairperson. 

The rest were Dr Abdul-Rauf Zini, who retained his position as Secretary for the third term, with Mr Amiweh Chaba as his Deputy Secretary.  

Mr Karimu Sunley also retained his position as the organiser, Mr Musah King-Waaleka Iddrisu, Nasara Coordinator, Madam Rukaya Hagbana Yahaya, Women Organiser, and Mr Ali Yahaya Fuowie, Youth Organiser.  

The rest were Mr Luri Sulley Karimu, treasurer, while Mr Yakubu Rafiu Jeajua was the communications officer. 

Addressing the delegates, Mr Salifu Naliwie Baluwie, the 2024 parliamentary candidate of the party, bemoaned the high cost of farm inputs and called on all NPP members to work hard to bring back the NPP into power for farming to thrive in the Sissala enclave. 

Mr Abudu Shaibu Gbemmie, the newly sworn-in chairman, emphasised his support and the support of the party members in the Constituency and called on all to remain united.  

The Sissala East Constituency election was held at the Dr Hilla Limann Senior High School in Gwollu.
