Maakro (Ash) July 14, GNA – Dr. Eugene Danquah Ofori-Appiah, the newly elected NPP Chairman for the Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency in the Ashanti Region, has pledged to collate and establish efficient database that will help identify job seekers and provide them with avenues to seek jobs.
He said it was important to get accurate data of people requiring employment – their qualifications, skills set, experiences, profession and other details that employers would need to offer jobs to the teeming youth in the area.
Speaking to journalists after his declaration by the Electoral Commission as the chairman of the NPP in the constituency on Saturday, Dr Ofori-Appiah, pointed out that, identifying the true number of unemployed youths in the constituency, would be one of his priorities as a political leader.
He said detailed information on all job seekers was important to support the private sector and others who needed people to work for them.
Dr Ofori-Appiah, who is a legal practitioner, said successful job creation efforts would require efficient information on all people seeking jobs, their qualifications, skills, experiences and professional status.
He said after collating the data of all unemployed youth in the constituency, he would then work with both private and public sector employers to create opportunities that would fix them into sustainable and reliable employment.
Dr Ofori-Appiah, efforts would soon be made to start the process of collating data of all unemployed youth in the area, to help expedite the action of providing jobs to the youth, adding that, broader consultation with all key stakeholders to ensure timely completion if the plan.
Lawyer Nana Appiah as he is popularly called in the area, snatched the chairmanship position from the incumbent, Mr. Stephen Boateng with 742 votes out of the total 1,362 cast during the elections.
Mr. Boateng, the incumbent, secured 621 votes.
