Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), July 1, GNA – Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area in the Bono Region has called on the Dormaa Area Teachers Cooperative Credit Union (DATCCU) to establish a factory in the area.
He said that setting up a factory strategically would not only create employment opportunities for the people but also expand the union’s assets and increase its profit margins.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Badu II, also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs recommended that the union set up a block factory as an ideal investment opportunity to add to its investment portfolios.
The Paramount Chief made the call in a speech read on his behalf by Barimah Effirititi Sampon-Siaw, the Mawirihene (sub-chief) of Dormaa Traditional Area at the 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Union at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo urged the Board of Directors and management of the union to also explore the possibilities to “create wealth out of waste”, asking the union to take advantage of the area’s huge poultry resources to create wealth and employment for the youth.
“We are here in Dormaa, but we always depend on maize from Cote D’Ivoire to feed birds, allowing nationals of Cote D’Ivoire to come in and collect poultry dung and to produce fertilizers when we have all these commodities, materials and resources at our disposable”, he stated.
Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Badu II commended the management and staff for their hard work in ensuring the growth and sustainability of the union and thereby making it resilient in times of adversity.
He noted that mismanagement had led other financial institutions in the area to fold up or collapse and absconding with deposits of customers.
