Sunyani, (Bono), July 22, GNA-The Sunyani Municipal Assembly has ordered traders at the Nana Bosoma Central Market in Sunyani to vacate the premises of the facility before Saturday July 25, 2026.
According to a statement issued and signed by Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, the directive was to pave the way for construction work to commence on the 24hour market project.
Hitherto, a copy of the statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said the assembly authorities engaged the traders in their evacuation.
“All traders directed to remove their goods, structures, and belongings from the market before Saturday 25th July 2026”, it ordered.
The statement cautioned that the assembly would be left with no other option to forcefully eject the traders if they failed to comply for the construction to begin.
It said that: “Any property left at the site after the deadline shall be removed at the owner’s risk, and the Assembly shall not be held liable for any loss or damage”.
The statement regretted the inconveniences created, and called for the cooperation of the traders, saying that the project was being put up in the interest of all.
Meanwhile, the construction of the 24hour market at the Nana Bosoma Central Market had been greeted with varied reaction in the Municipality.
While some residents lauded the facelifting of the facility which would accordingly boost economic activities, others expressed the fear that the evacuation of the traders would collapse some businesses.
The Nana Bosoma Central Market is one of the major trading hubs in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital.
