Accra, July 21, GNA – MTN Ghana has called for intensified public education on fibre broadband, saying many Ghanaians still underestimate the benefits of fixed internet connectivity.
Mr Richard Acheampong, Chief Home Officer of MTN Ghana, said misconceptions about affordability and value continued to slow the adoption of fibre broadband.
Speaking at the MTN Bright Conversations media engagement, he said many households relied solely on mobile internet without recognising the advantages of fibre connectivity for multiple users and connected devices.
“The conversation should not only be about price but about the value people derive from reliable internet connectivity,” he said.
Mr Acheampong said modern homes had evolved into centres for education, remote work, business operations and entertainment, requiring stable and reliable internet connections.
He explained that unreliable internet connectivity could disrupt virtual meetings, online classes, business transactions, and digital content streaming.
According to him, reliable broadband enhanced productivity, convenience and access to opportunities for households.
Mr Acheampong urged journalists to support nationwide public education campaigns to help consumers better understand the differences between mobile and fixed broadband services.
He said increased adoption of fibre broadband would accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation and promote greater digital inclusion
