Sunyani, (Bono), July 7, GNA-The MIHOSO International Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation has sensitized personnel of the Bono Regional Office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) on HIV self-testing.

The foundation distributed HIV self-test kits and condoms to personnel of the Authority and to support sustained awareness and responsible health choices.

According to a statement issued and signed by Mr Thomas Benarkuu, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MIHOSO, the engagement formed part of the implementation of the MIHOSO-Ghana HIV and AIDS Network (GHANET) HIV Self-Testing (HIVST) Project.

Under the project, the two organisations are actively distributing oral-quick and blood-based HIV self-testing (HIVST) kits to vulnerable populations and the wider community.

These community-led drives allow residents to discreetly test themselves and receive private results in 20 to 40 minutes.

“The MIHOSO undertook a strategic working visit to the FDA Regional office in Sunyani, marking another step in strengthening public health education and HIV prevention efforts”, a copy of the statement made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani stated.

It explained that the engagement opened with an interactive sensitization session for FDA personnel, with a team from the MIHOSO facilitating practical demonstrations on the appropriate use of the HIV self-test kits.

The session created an open learning environment, encouraged questions, discussions, and knowledge sharing on HIV prevention, regular testing, and safer health practices.

The statement quoted Madam Akua Amponsah Owusu, the Bono Regional Director of the FDA expressing appreciation to the foundation for the opportunity, noting that the engagement had strengthened institutional collaboration.

She lauded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in expanding HIV awareness, improving prevention education, and increasing access to essential health services across communities.
