Accra, July , GNA – The Ghana Police Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) from the Police Headquarters in collaboration with Accra Central and Adenta Police, have organised a vehicular inspection to track down vehicles using Sirens, LED/Fog lights, Strobe lights and Beacon lights on their vehicles.
The operation took place under the traffic lights at the Dodowa and Aburi junctions near the Adenta Police Station.
Vehicles that were plying from Aburi, Dodowa, Adenta and Madina with fixed Sirens, LED/Fog lights, strobe lights and Beacon lights were arrested and all the gadgets were removed.
The vehicles were immediately released after removing those gadgets.
Eighty four vehicles were arrested, comprising nine private cars, 45 passenger buses, 20 Tipper/Cargo Trucks, seven pick-ups and a Land Cruiser from the Jubilee House.
The operation which started around 08.00hours ended at 12noon, under the Command of DCOP Mr Alex Kodwo Wowolo and ably assisted by ASP Mr Julius Ahumah from Central Police MTTD.
In an interview with GNA , most drivers arrested complained that at night, they were blinded by vehicles using LED lights and the arrest was a step in the right direction.
