Manso Tetrem (Ash), July 6, GNA – Mr Prince Manu Morris, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie West, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure in the district to enhance socio-economic development and the quality of life of residents.
He said the Assembly was working closely with the Ministry of Roads and Highways and other relevant agencies to address challenges confronting road users and improving the road network across the district.
Mr Morris said this when he met the chiefs and people of Manso Tetrem as part of ongoing community engagements aimed at gathering the necessary technical information for planned road rehabilitation projects in the area.
He acknowledged concerns about the poor state of roads in the district and expressed confidence that the issues raised by residents would receive the needed attention.
The DCE also urged residents to support the Government’s development agenda irrespective of political affiliation, stressing that national development required unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility.
Madam Abenaa Gyantoa, a 103-year-old resident of Manso Tetrem, appealed to the Government to ensure the construction of a tarred road in the Manso enclave within her lifetime.
She said she had lived in the area for more than a century without witnessing the construction of a single tarred road, describing the poor road network as one of the major challenges facing residents.
Madam Gyantoa appealed to Mr Morris, who was accompanied by officials of the Ashanti Regional Department of Feeder Roads, to work towards ensuring that promises regarding road rehabilitation were fulfilled.
She noted that the deplorable condition of the roads had, over the years, hampered the movement of people and goods, limited access to healthcare and education, and slowed the socio-economic development of communities in the enclave.
Other residents shared similar concerns, describing the poor road infrastructure as a major impediment to development.
They appealed to the Government to expedite efforts to rehabilitate the roads to improve transportation, boost trade and agriculture, and facilitate access to essential social services.
