Adaklu Helekpe (V/R), July 10, GNA – Through sustained community engagements and health education, the GOSANET Foundation is empowering individuals and families in the Volta Region with the knowledge needed to prevent diseases.

The engagements are also helping in improving community well-being.

Mr Samuel Yao Atidzah, Executive Director of GOSANET Foundation, an NGO, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of one of the Foundation’s community engagements at Adaklu Helekpe in the Adaklu district.

“In collaboration with other stakeholders, we are building healthier, well informed and resilient communities,” he stated.

Mr Atidzah said their field interventions focused on malaria prevention, including the consistent use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, prompt testing for malaria and treatment.

He noted that another area was cholera prevention through improved sanitation, safe water practices, hand washing, and proper food hygiene.

The Executive Director also mentioned environmental cleanliness and community participation in preventing communicable diseases, interactive health sessions, and community dialogue.

He stated that the Foundation in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme would continue to use community information centres as one of its channels of information dissemination to promote healthier communities as part of its Social and Behavioral Change Communication Programme.
