Banda-Ahenkro, (Bono), July 10, GNA-ActionAid Ghana (AAG), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has donated sets of furniture to some Kindergarten (KG) schools in the Banda District of the Bono Region.
The NGO presented 36 sets of child-friendly furniture and nine teachers’ tables and chairs to the kindergarten schools at Bofie, Biema and Wewa in the district.
Speaking at a ceremony at Banda-Ahenkro, the district capital, Mr Abdallah Abdul Rahman, the Interim Country Director of the AAG, said the furniture would provide a conducive environment for the 216 KG learners.
He said that the presentation was to help the nation achieve goal four of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals.
The global goal four enjoins countries around the world to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” by 2030.
It aims to provide universal access to free, equitable primary and secondary schooling, expand early childhood development, and increase access to technical, vocational, and higher education.
Mr Rahman said the AAG believed that quality education remained the most powerful tool for transforming lives and building a more, just, inclusive and equitable society.
“It is therefore vital for every child, regardless of background or where he or he lives, to deserve the opportunity to learn and to reach his or her full potential through a decent and serene learning environment.”
Mr Kwame Afram Denyira, the Bono Regional Programme Manager of the AAG, urged the beneficiary schools to take good care of the furniture and urged stakeholders in the area to contribute towards promoting child education.
Mr Isaac Adjei, the Banda District Director for Education who received the furniture thanked the AAG for the gesture.
