Tema, July 08, GNA – Farmers and agribusinesses persons have been encouraged to participate in international agricultural fairs to expand their businesses through access to investment, technology, markets and strategic partnerships.

Dr Courage Bessah-Adanu, the Lead Consultant at the West Africa Centre for Agribusiness and Apiculture Development (WACCAD), said such platforms enabled farmers to interact with investors, researchers, financial institutions and technology providers, creating opportunities to improve productivity and competitiveness.

Dr Bessah-Adanu made the call during a webinar organised by AGRA, a nonprofit organisation to improve agricultural practices in Africa, in collaboration with the WACCAD and Anchor Resource Management to promote participation in the AGRA International Fair in Slovenia.

Dr Bessah-Adanu urged farmers to take advantage of such international platforms to build knowledge, establish business networks and explore opportunities that could support the growth of their enterprises.

Touching on the upcoming fair, he noted that it was one of Europe’s leading agricultural and food exhibitions and had, over the years, provided a platform for farmers, agribusinesses, food processors, researchers, investors and policymakers to exchange ideas and explore business opportunities.

He added that the fair recognises vital institutions who contribute to the growth of agriculture and ensure food security, noting that this year, it aimed at helping African agribusinesses become more competitive globally while strengthening trade and investment relations between West Africa and Europe.

Mr Gilbert Yelewere Meznar, the President of the Slovenia-Ghana Business Club, said the AGRA International Fair was open to participants across the agricultural value chain, including start-ups, small businesses and established institutions.

He encouraged farmers, agribusiness owners and organisations interested in agriculture to participate in the event to explore international markets and investment opportunities.
