Aiyinasi (W/R), July 2, GNA – Nana Ekye Kpanyinli, Chief of Aiyinasi, has called on the Government to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of national resources to benefit all citizens.
He said it would be difficult for people living in poverty and hunger to genuinely offer prayers and thanksgiving for the nation.
Nana Kpanyinli made the call during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the Calvary Methodist Church at Aiyinasi in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The event, which was replicated nationwide, was on the theme: “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”
The non-denominational service, organised by the Ellembelle District Assembly in collaboration with the Local Council of Churches, brought together public servants, traditional authorities, religious leaders, media practitioners and members of the public.
Nana Kpanyinli said the equitable distribution of national resources must be a key pillar of the Government’s reset agenda.
“When it comes to employment, it must benefit all. When it comes to sharing national resources, it must benefit all,” he said.
He cautioned that individuals and communities that felt marginalised might become disinterested in contributing to national development.
The chief further urged Ghanaians to desist from evil acts and return to traditional values that promoted environmental protection to give practical meaning to the country’s reset agenda.
Mr Joseph Armah Agyekum, the Ellembelle District Chief Executive (DCE), expressed gratitude to God for the spiritual leaders who continually prayed for and supported the district’s leadership.
He said Ghana should not wait until election periods before seeking God’s guidance and intervention.
Mr Agyekum also thanked God for preserving the life of Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, who was scheduled to board a helicopter that crashed fatally last year.
He said the district had benefited significantly from the efforts of the MP through the establishment of major projects and industries, including the Ghana National Gas Company and Eni Ghana operations.
The DCE announced that the district had secured GH¢110 million for the construction of a district hospital at Nkroful.
Delivering the sermon, Apostle Francis Blay Andoh, National President of the Sacred Action Church, urged Ghanaians to acknowledge God in all their endeavours, stressing that nations that turned away from God suffered consequences.
He advised citizens to refrain from sinful acts to avoid God’s wrath and expressed gratitude for God’s benevolence and blessings upon the nation.
Apostle Blay Andoh also thanked God for saving many lives during recent flooding incidents in Accra.
He noted that Aiyinasi was gradually emerging as a commercial hub within the Ellembelle District and called for proper spatial planning to address the area’s growing population and prevent future flooding disasters.
