Kumasi, July 23, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has elected new regional executives.
The election and swearing-in ceremony took place at the Association’s conference hall in Adum, Kumasi, paving way for the elected executives to begin their four-year mandate.
The Electoral College comprised two officials drawn from each of the 43 districts and the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), the incumbent regional executives, and the candidates contesting the election, in accordance with the Constitution of the Association.
The newly elected regional executives are Mr Kelvin Gyamfi, Chairman; Mr Kwaku Opare Asamoah, Treasurer; Mr Collins Owusu-Ansah, Organiser; and Mr Isaac Agyen, Regional Trustee.
Apart from the Regional Treasurer, Mr Opare Asamoah, all the executives were elected unopposed in the election, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Mr Opare Asamoah polled 53 votes to defeat his only contender, Mr Saeed Ishahaku, who obtained 29 votes.
The new Regional Executives were sworn into office by the President of CLOGSAG, Mr Benjamin Otoo.
Dr Isaac Bampoe-Addo, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, admonished the new executives to carry out their mandate professionally and diligently, and urged members in the region to rally behind them to promote the welfare of members and the Association.
Mr Samuel Antwi, the immediate past Ashanti Regional Chairman of CLOGSAG, added his voice to calls for the new officers to work hard to improve the welfare of members and the Association.
He assured them of his continuous support to ensure their success during their tenure and urged other members to offer their full support.
Mr Gyamfi, on behalf of the new executives, expressed their deepest gratitude to the Electoral College for the confidence reposed in them, and commended delegates for their genuine commitment and dedication to their constitutional obligation.
He saluted the delegates for their efforts and promised to work with members to promote the greater good of CLOGSAG in the region and beyond.
He also thanked national officials of the Association, particularly the Executive Secretary and the President, for supervising the election process, and assured them that their advice and guidance would be adhered to.
