ABIDJAN, July 13 (Xinhua/GNA)- At least 14 people were killed and dozens of others injured, after an intercity bus plunged into the Bafing River on Monday along the Touba-Biankouma road in northwestern Cote d’Ivoire, a security source told Xinhua.
The bus, operated by Diarra Transport, was carrying more than 50 passengers from Odienne to Yamoussoukro, when it veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined, before plunging into the river near the village of Bafingdala, according to the source.
A preliminary report put the death toll at 14, while 40 people were injured and several others remain missing.
Rescue teams were deployed to locate those still missing.
