Kumasi, July 26, GNA – The Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly (AMMA) has called on all stakeholders to actively support the municipality’s development agenda by participating in meetings and contributing ideas that would promote growth and progress.
The Assembly said sustainable development could only be achieved through collective effort and regular engagement among departments, traditional authorities, community groups, civil society organisations and residents.
Mr Isaac Kwame Ellimah, the Municipal Coordinating Director, made the call during a sectoral review meeting in the municipality.
He said stakeholder participation was essential in aligning the activities and programmes of various institutions with the Assembly’s development priorities.
Mr Ellimah noted that such meetings provided an opportunity for departments to present their achievements and challenges, while identifying practical solutions to emerging issues.
According to him, stakeholders who participated in Assembly meetings not only contributed to decision-making processes but also helped to monitor project implementation to ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
Heads of departments took turns to brief participants on activities undertaken during the period under review and outlined plans for the future.
They highlighted efforts in community outreach, improved service delivery, and routine supervision, while drawing attention to areas requiring additional support to enhance operations.
Representatives from the Health, Education, Environmental Health and Security sectors outlined programmes being undertaken by their respective departments.
The Municipal Health Directorate detailed ongoing interventions aimed at promoting public health, improving sanitation, and expanding access to basic healthcare services.
The Directorate emphasised the need for closer collaboration with community leaders to encourage adherence to health campaigns and preventive measures.
Officials from the Municipal Education Directorate also provided updates on academic activities and initiatives to support teaching and learning in schools.
They stressed that active stakeholder involvement was crucial in addressing challenges such as absenteeism and inadequate learning resources.
The Environmental Health Department highlighted measures being implemented to improve waste management and environmental sanitation, including public education on proper waste disposal practices.
It noted that sustained community participation was vital to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The Security Services, on their part, briefed the meeting on efforts to maintain peace and order through strengthened community policing initiatives and prompt response to concerns raised by residents.
They said a peaceful and secure environment remained essential for the successful implementation of development projects within the municipality.
