Adaklu Abuadi (V/R), July 30, GNA – The Adaklu Traditional Council has formed a five-member Welfare Committee to oversee the welfare of citizens of the area.
The committee is chaired by Togbe Dzegblade IV, the Dufia of Adaklu Kodzobi.
This was contained in a letter by the Council and signed by Mr Foli Mawutor, the Registrar.
The letter which was sighted by the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, stated that Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, the President of the Council and Paramount Chief of Adaklu and the Council’s appointment of Togbe Dzegblade as Chairman of the Committee, was in recognition of his compassionate service to Adaklu.
It continued that it was also in recognition of his community spirit, and deep concern for the well-being of the people of the Adaklu Traditional Area.
The letter noted that the Council was confident that his leadership would drive meaningful improvements in the welfare and living conditions of community members, particularly the vulnerable and underprivileged.
It named the responsibilities of the Welfare Committee, as identifying and addressing the welfare needs of community members, with special attention to the elderly, persons with disabilities, widows, orphans and other vulnerable groups.
The letter named the others as developing and overseeing welfare programmes and social support initiatives on behalf of the Traditional Council, liaising with government agencies, non- governmental organizations and development partners to mobilise resources and support for community welfare.
The rest it said were receiving, reviewing, and responding to welfare petitions and appeals brought before the Council, maintaining accurate records of welfare interventions and reporting regularly to the Council and any other duties as might be assigned by the Paramount Chief and the Traditional Council.
“The Council looks forward to your invaluable contributions and wishes you every success in this esteemed role,” the letter concluded.
The letter was copied to the Registrar of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
Togbe Dzegblade in a chat with the Ghana News Agency said the task was enormous but trusted that with the support of members of the Committee he would work to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He noted that though the Committee had five members, he would co-opt some people into it to enable the committee to perform creditably.
Togbe Dzegblade called on all citizens to lend their support to the committee.
