Accra, July 24, GNA – The Africa Centre for Digital Transformation (ACDT) and the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) will launch a national programme to strengthen cybersecurity reporting by media practitioners on August 3, 2026.
The initiative, supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ghana under the Czech Republic’s Transformation Cooperation Programme, seeks to enhance cyber awareness and digital risk communication nationwide.
A statement issued by the organisers said the National Community Media Cyber Capability Building Project (NCMCCBP) would be launched at the National Communications Authority Tower in Accra.
It would be on the theme: “Advancing Ghana’s National Security and Cyber Defence Objectives through Community Media Strengthening for Cybercrime Awareness and Digital Risk Communication.”
The statement said the project will equip journalists, editors, broadcasters and bloggers with practical skills to report on cybersecurity issues, combat online misinformation and disinformation, promote child online protection and strengthen reporting on critical information infrastructure.
It said selected journalists from community radio stations and local media outlets across the country would subsequently undergo training in cybersecurity reporting, cybercrime trends, online safety, fact-checking, digital rights and ethical journalism.
Participants who complete the programme and practical assignments will receive certification and be inducted into the Cyber Security Press Corps, a national network of media professionals focused on cybersecurity education and public awareness.
The statement said the launch would bring together government officials, diplomats, development partners, security agencies, academia, civil society organisations and media practitioners.
Mr Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, is expected to deliver the keynote address.
Other speakers are expected to include Mr Divine Selase Agbeti, Director-General of the CSA; Mr Emmanuel Agyare, ACDT Board Representative on the project; and Mr Pavel Bílek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ghana.
The programme will also feature a panel discussion involving representatives of the Ghana Police Service, the National Counter Terrorism Fusion Centre, the CSA and the Africa Centre for Digital Transformation on emerging cyber threats, public awareness and collaboration to strengthen Ghana’s digital security.
