Takoradi, July 31, GNA – The Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development (GEC) has launched the 2026 Ghana Career and Migration Fair to help young people explore employment trends, industry-relevant skills and opportunities in Ghana and the global labour market.
The eighth edition of the fair, scheduled for September 30, 2026, in Takoradi, seeks to connect young people with employers, training institutions, government agencies and career development stakeholders to provide reliable information on careers, skills and opportunities in Ghana and beyond.
The event is being organised in collaboration with the Labour Department of the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, and other partners.
Mr Andreas Berding, Head of the Ghanaian European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development, speaking at the launch in Takoradi, said the fair had over the years become an important platform for connecting people with opportunities.
He said the initiative had linked jobseekers with employers, provided career information to young people and supported them to explore pathways to skills development and employment.
“As we launch the eighth edition, we want to build on this progress and make an even stronger connection between skills, training and employment,” he said.
Mr Berding said this year’s fair would place special emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and technical skills development, as employers increasingly sought people with practical skills, digital competencies, problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
He noted that TVET provided a direct pathway to employment and would help Ghana develop the skilled workforce needed to support economic growth.
Mr Kwaku Yeboah, Deputy Head of Centre at GEC, said activities lined up for the fair included Curriculum Vitae (CV) reviews, exhibitions, employer engagements, career guidance sessions, panel discussions and breakout sessions on migration pathways and scholarships.
Mr Frederick F. Faidoo, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), commended the initiative, saying it would help bridge the unemployment gap among young people in the metropolis.
He urged residents to take advantage of the fair to access relevant information that could improve their chances of securing employment opportunities in Ghana and abroad.
The Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development forms part of the global project, “Centres for Migration and Development”, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-funded by the European Union.
The project is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ghana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.
