Trial of former Buffer Stock Company CEO, wife begins July 15

Accra, June 19, GNA – An Accra High Court will, on July 15, begin the trial of Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni.

This follows the completion of the Case Management Conference (CMC) by the Court and the parties.

The Court has, however, ordered the State to release all electronic gadgets belonging to the accused persons within 14 days.

The order followed an application by Mr Augustine Obuor, counsel for Faiza, who argued that following the conclusion of the CMC by the prosecution, it was appropriate for the electronic gadgets, including mobile phones and laptops, seized from his client to be returned, as no reference had been made to them during the conference.

Mr Godfred Yeboah Dame, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, who is counsel for Aludiba, also informed the Court that his client’s mobile phones and laptops remained in the custody of the State.

He, therefore, prayed the Court to order their release.

Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney-General, did not oppose the request, except to indicate that the gadgets had not yet been released by the Forensic Laboratory.

He stated that even without a court order, the gadgets would be returned to the accused persons in due course.

Earlier, Mr Dame informed the Court that on June 11, 2026, he had filed a request for 69 documents in the possession of the prosecution.

He said the documents were necessary to enable the accused persons to adequately prepare for trial.

The two accused persons are facing 20 charges, including stealing, defrauding by false pretences, abuse of public office, wilfully causing financial loss to the State, dishonestly receiving, and money laundering.

They are alleged to have stolen GH¢78 million from the State.

The accused persons have denied the charges and have been granted bail.
