Tefle (V/R), June 1, GNA – The Tefle Traditional Council has mandated the Tefle Unity Group (TUG) to lead the planning and coordination of the 2026 Afenorto Festival following a consultative meeting held at Dzavieto in Tefle on Sunday.

The decision was reached at a meeting convened by the AĘ‹afiawo (Tefle Traditional Council), where members of the traditional leadership entrusted TUG with the responsibility of spearheading preparations for the annual cultural celebration.

A communiquĂ© issued by Mr Justice Gbadago, Organising Secretary of TUG, stated that the Group had been directed to constitute a Central Planning Committee (CPC) and the necessary sub-committees to oversee the successful organisation and execution of the festival.

According to the communiquĂ©, the Central Planning Committee would comprise representatives from the various clans of Tefle and serve as the principal coordinating body between the leadership of TUG and the respective clans.

It said all official recommendations, reports, and updates from the committee would be channelled through the leadership of TUG to the Traditional Council to ensure effective coordination and accountability throughout the planning process.

The statement further indicated that the various sub-committees would be constituted from among dedicated and capable natives of Tefle who are willing to contribute their expertise, resources, and services towards the success of the festival.

It noted that the committees would work closely with the Traditional Council, the Tators, and the leadership of TUG in carrying out their responsibilities.

The leadership of TUG welcomed the mandate and expressed appreciation to the Traditional Council for the confidence reposed in the Group to coordinate the festival.

The Group also commended the Tators for their contributions, valuable insights, and commitment during the consultative engagements that culminated in the decision.

TUG appealed to natives of Tefle, both at home and abroad, to support preparations towards the 2026 Afenorto Festival and actively participate in activities aimed at promoting unity, preserving culture, and advancing the development of the community.

The Group said further details regarding the formation of committees, festival programmes, and related activities would be communicated in due course.
