Agona Nsaba (C/R), June 7, GNA – The Ebenezer Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Agona Nsaba has held a retirement service in honour of two long-serving agents, Mr George Owusu Asomaning and Mr Daniel Kwabena Nyarko.
Both retirees, aged over 80, devoted more than two decades of service to the Nsaba District, working tirelessly in remote communities despite poor road networks and other challenging conditions.
Delivering the sermon, Reverend Christian Yeboah Nyarko, Pastor-in-Charge of the Duakwa Congregation, commended the honourees for their dedication, and urged the youth to emulate their selfless service in the work of God.
He noted that the Church was facing difficulties in finding replacements due to the demanding nature of the terrain.
Mr Asomaning, 81, spent over 30 years planting Presbyterian churches in various villages across the Agona Nsaba District.
After retiring from active official service in 2005, he joined the Ebenezer Congregation at Agona Nsaba, where he served as Secretary to the Men’s Fellowship.
He later accepted a request by the congregation to help establish a church at Kokoado, serving as its caretaker from 2005 until his health declined in December 2024.
At Kokoado, Mr Asomaning mobilised residents to build a vibrant congregation and initiated the construction of a Presbyterian chapel.
He also made efforts to establish a school, but the project could not be sustained due to limited support.
Mr Nyarko, 85, served in the village of KwesiPentil for more than 22 years, nurturing the congregation and strengthening the presence of the Presbyterian Church in the community.
He was once the youngest Presbyter and later rose to become the Senior Presbyter of the church.
During his tenure, he facilitated the construction of a wall around the Ebenezer Congregation premises at Agona Nsaba.
The congregation presented the retirees with plaques and cash in recognition of their dedicated service, celebrating their endurance and contributions to the growth of the Church.
