Moscow, June 19 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – More than 7,000 Russian test systems for the diagnosis of Ebola caused by the Bundibugyo strain have been transferred to African countries, Russian federal consumer rights and human welfare watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Friday.
“In response to the threat of a new outbreak of Ebola caused by the Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, Rospotrebnadzor was one of the first in the world to develop and organize the production of tests for PCR diagnosis of this variant of the virus in four days. In total, more than 7,000 tests have already been transferred to African countries,” the watchdog said in a statement.
Russian test systems have also been transferred to North Korea and Turkmenistan, the statement added.
Specialists from Russia and Uganda have conducted more than 1,500 studies of biomaterials of Ebola patients and people with suspected Ebola, Rospotrebnadzor said.
