Accra, June 21, GNA – Traditional leaders in Ketu South in the Volta Region have enstooled Mrs. Adzo Hukporti Palmer as Mama Afeafa (Fãfã), Developmental Queen Mother of the Klikor Traditional Area, to strengthen diaspora engagement and advance community development initiatives.

The newly enstooled queen mother, who traces her royal roots to both the Klikor Traditional Area and the Dowuona Royal Family of Osu, is expected to serve as a bridge between the Klikor community and Ghanaians living abroad, particularly in the United States.

In a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency, the traditional authorities said her selection was influenced by her leadership experience, international exposure, and commitment to community development and peacebuilding.

“Known for her advocacy in women’s empowerment and youth development, Mama Afeafa currently serves on the executive boards of several organisations, including the Coalition of NGOs in Women and Children and Women and Youth in Oil, Gas and Green Transition,” the statement said.

It noted that she has also been involved in initiatives focused on peacebuilding, gender advocacy, and economic empowerment.

According to the statement, one of the major initiatives associated with her leadership is a training programme designed to prepare 700 women and youth for opportunities within Ghana’s oil and gas sector.

The programme, being implemented with support from government stakeholders, seeks to enhance skills development and create employment opportunities for young people.

Beyond governance and advocacy, Mama Afeafa has also played an active role in promoting Ghanaian culture and heritage through the Masankofa Creative and Arts Foundation, where she supports cultural education and youth development programmes.

“Through the foundation, she has sponsored cultural activities and supported the training of children in traditional dance and the arts as part of efforts to preserve Ghana’s cultural identity,” the statement stressed.

Community members described her as a symbol of peace and unity whose leadership is expected to strengthen development efforts within the Klikor Traditional Area and beyond.

Residents and traditional authorities expressed optimism that her role would deepen collaboration between the diaspora and local communities while advancing opportunities for women and young people in the municipality.
