Tadzewu (V/R), June 29, GNA – A medical outreach programme has been organised for the people of Tadzewu in the Ketu North Constituency as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare at the community level.

The free paediatric specialist outreach programme organised by Mr Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North, in collaboration with the Paediatric and Child Health Department of the Ho Teaching Hospital and the Volta Regional Branch of the Paediatric Society of Ghana benefited 657 residents, comprising 321 males and 336 females.

The outreach team provided a wide range of free healthcare services, including general consultations, dietetics and nutrition, ear, nose and throat (ENT) care, eye and dental services, psychological support, and physiotherapy.

Participants were also educated on the importance of routine immunisation, with special emphasis on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine as a key preventive measure against cervical cancer.

In addition to the clinical services, officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registered new members and renewed existing memberships for residents.

A total of 161 NHIS transactions were recorded, comprising 69 new registrations and 92 renewals.

All consultations, screenings and related medical services were provided free of charge, ensuring that families in the area had access to specialist paediatric care without financial barriers.

Mr Agbana said the initiative reflected his commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the constituency and bringing specialised medical services closer to underserved communities.

He noted that access to quality healthcare, particularly for children, remained a key priority, stressing that no child should be deprived of medical care because of distance or cost.

The MP expressed appreciation to the team of specialists from the Ho Teaching Hospital, the Volta Regional Branch of the Paediatric Society of Ghana, and all stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the outreach.

He reaffirmed his commitment to partnering health professionals and institutions to expand access to quality healthcare across the Ketu North Constituency.
