Ketu North: 877 flood victims verified as relief efforts intensify

By Michael Foli Jackidy, GNA

Dzodze (V/R), June 18, GNA – The Ketu North Municipal office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has confirmed that 877 persons have so far been verified as victims of the recent floods that affected several communities in the municipality.

The affected include displaced families, residents whose homes and properties have been damaged and others who have suffered various flood-related losses.

Mr Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, described the situation as painful, expressing solidarity with all affected households.

“We continue to work closely with the NADMO and all relevant stakeholders to coordinate relief efforts and provide support to those in need,” he said.

He further disclosed that additional relief items would be distributed to some of the verified victims over the weekend as part of ongoing interventions.

Mr Agbana raised concerns over the extensive destruction of farmlands, noting that many hectares had been submerged, posing a serious threat to livelihoods and food security in the area.

He said he was engaging with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to explore practical interventions to support affected farmers and restore agricultural activities.

The MP expressed appreciation to Rev Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive, NADMO officials, traditional authorities and residents of the affected communities for their support during the crisis.

“We will continue to stand with every affected family and work with all relevant agencies until full recovery is achieved,” he assured.
