Dzolokpuita, June 19, GNA – The Ho West District Assembly has provided livelihood support to 64 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to promote economic independence and improve their living conditions.

The support, funded through the three per cent allocation of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for Persons with Disabilities, comprised 12 freezers, four industrial sewing machines, 14 fufu processing machines, six cassava grinding machines, two palm nut crackers, two wheelchairs, five sets of plastic chairs made up of 80 chairs each, and a set of electrical tools.

Additionally, six beneficiaries received educational support, while one person was assisted with medical expenses.

Prior to the disbursement, the beneficiaries underwent entrepreneurial skills training facilitated by Mr Prince Anku, Head of the Business Advisory Centre (BAC), to equip them with practical business management and entrepreneurial skills to sustain their economic ventures.

Addressing the beneficiaries on June 17, 2026, Mr Francis Dusey, Ho West District Chief Executive, said the intervention demonstrated the government’s commitment to inclusive development and ensuring that no one was left behind in the national development agenda.

He noted that sustainable development could only be achieved when all citizens, including Persons with Disabilities, were empowered to contribute meaningfully to society and improve their economic well-being.

Mr Dusey explained that the items distributed were based on the specific needs and requests of beneficiaries and urged them to make effective use of the support to achieve greater financial independence and improved livelihoods.

Madam Stella Mawutor, Volta Regional Director of Social Welfare, commended the Assembly for its continued commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and advised beneficiaries against selling the items.

She urged them to use the equipment for its intended purpose to improve their socio-economic conditions.

Also speaking at the event, Mr Samuel Ntow, Chairman of the Assembly’s Social Services Sub-Committee, reminded beneficiaries that the support was a one-time intervention and encouraged them to utilise the items effectively to create sustainable sources of income.

Mr Prince Semabia, Ho West District Social Welfare and Community Development Officer, said the department would conduct regular monitoring and evaluation exercises to ensure that beneficiaries were using the items appropriately and deriving the intended benefits.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Kafui Tsetse expressed gratitude to the Ho West District Assembly and the Government for the support, saying it would significantly boost their economic activities and improve their standard of living.

She pledged that beneficiaries would make judicious use of the equipment and apply the skills acquired during the training to expand their businesses and secure a better future for themselves and their families.
