Ellembelle District Assembly to be upgraded to municipal status – Armah-Kofi Buah

Aiyinasi (W/R), June 2, GNA – Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has announced that plans are far advanced to elevate the Ellembelle District Assembly to a municipal status.

Speaking at a public event at Aiyinasi, Mr Armah-Kofi Buah said the proposed upgrade would strengthen local governance, increase development funding, and bring public services closer to the people.

“The municipal status will give Ellembelle greater administrative autonomy, more resources, and faster decision-making. This is about unlocking more development funding and improving service delivery so our people feel the impact of government directly,” he stated.

He said the elevation would position the area to attract more infrastructural projects and investment, while allowing for the creation of additional departments to effectively handle planning, budgeting and social services.

Mr Joseph Armah Agyekum, the District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, welcomed the announcement and noted that the move reflected the growth and increasing development needs of the district.

He pledged his commitment to advancing education, infrastructure and good governance in the area.

The Ellembelle District Assembly was carved out of the Nzema East Municipality in 2008 to accelerate development in the district.
