Accra, June 18, GNA – Dr Issahaku Tahiru Moomin, a chartered accountant and former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Wa Municipal Assembly, has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when nominations are officially opened.

Dr Tahiru said he was offering himself for the position to bring his extensive experience in public financial management, fundraising and business development to bear on the fortunes of the party.

He served as MCE for the Wa Municipal Assembly for eight years and previously contested as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Wa Central Constituency in the 2012 and 2016 general elections.

Before entering local government administration, Dr Tahiru worked as an accountant at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and also served with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

He also worked with the Ghana Health Service as Head of Finance at various health facilities across the country, including in the Ashanti Region, where he gained experience in financial administration and public sector management.

Currently, he works as an international business agent and is involved in financial transactions and business advisory services for organisations and private clients.

According to supporters, Dr Tahiru’s decision to contest for the National Treasurer position has been well received across various party networks and platforms.

They describe him as a seasoned financial expert with a profound understanding of public financial management laws, regulations and institutional financial administration.

His supporters believe his experience as a local government administrator and former head of the NPP constituency campaign team in Wa Central in 2012 has equipped him with the skills required to manage the party’s finances effectively.

Dr Tahiru is also noted for his expertise in fundraising, business networking and investment principles, qualities his supporters say will help strengthen the financial base of the party.

They expressed confidence that his corporate and public sector experience would contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of the NPP should he be elected National Treasurer.
