Wa, (UW/R), June 6, GNA – The Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University (DHLTU) has recorded an unprecedented haul of academic honours at the 4th Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG 2026), winning four major individual awards.
A statement issued by the university to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Wa said the institution also received recognition for innovation participation.
The conference, which was held at the Takoradi Technical University, brought together researchers, academics, industry practitioners, and policymakers from all ten technical universities in Ghana to showcase research findings, innovations, and industry-focused solutions.
According to the statement, the DHLTU distinguished itself through the quality of its research outputs and presentations, securing some of the most prestigious awards at the conference.
Mr Sixtus Bayaa Martin Saana of the DHLTU was the star award winner, achieving the rare distinction of winning two major awards at the conference.
Mr Saana was adjudged the winner of the Overall Best Paper Presentation Award, regarded as the highest individual recognition at ARCTUG and contested by presenters from all participating technical universities.
He also received the Best Industry Relevant Paper Award, underscoring the practical significance of his research and its relevance to industry and national development.


Madam Patricia Glago, another member of the DHLTU, was honoured with the Best Female Presenter Award in recognition of her outstanding research presentation.
The award celebrates excellence in scholarly communication among female researchers and highlights the growing contribution of women academics to research and innovation within the technical university sector.
The university also secured the Best Research Paper Award, which was received on behalf of the research team by Madam Rhoda Saan.
The award-winning paper, which focused on digital marketing, financial technology (fintech), and economic transformation, was adjudged the best written research contribution presented at the conference.
The statement noted that the recognition reflected the relevance of the research to Ghana’s evolving digital economy and broader national development agenda.
The DHLTU participated in the Innovation Display Exhibition, where Mr Obed Kwesi Ayitey, popularly known as “Rasta”, received a Certificate of Innovation Participation on behalf of the university.
The statement said the recognition demonstrated DHLTU’s commitment to applied research, innovation, and practical problem-solving.
Commenting on the achievement, Ing. Prof. Hamidatu Darimani, the Vice Chancellor of DHLTU, described the awards as a proud moment for the institution, which reflected the quality and impact of research undertaken at DHLTU.
“This achievement is a proud moment for our institution. The recognition of our faculty at the national level, especially the Overall Best Paper Presentation Award, affirms the quality and impact of research being conducted at DHLTU”, she stated.
She commended the award winners for their contribution to the institution’s growing research reputation.
ARCTUG is the premier annual research conference for Ghana’s technical universities and serves as a platform for researchers, faculty members, postgraduate students, industry partners, and policymakers to promote applied research and innovation.
