Ho, June 10, GNA – A section of a bridge on the Nogora–Ho Technical University (HTU) road has collapsed, posing a serious risk to motorists, pedestrians, and other road users.

The affected bridge that collapsed on Tuesday, June 9, is located along the main access road to the Ho Technical University, a route frequently used by students, staff, and residents within the municipality.

Mr Christian Youngs, Ho Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has urged the public to exercise extreme caution when using the road following the incident.

According to him, the damaged section of the bridge poses a potential danger to commuters and could lead to accidents if the necessary precautions are not taken

“All those using the Ho Technical University road to the main entrance should be careful because part of the bridge has collapsed,” he warned.

The incident has raised concerns among students, residents and road users, particularly, because the road serves as a major access route to the university and surrounding communities.

Motorists have been advised to reduce speed when approaching the area and strictly observe safety measures to avoid any mishaps while using the affected stretch.

Students and residents are also calling on the relevant authorities, including the Department of Urban Roads, the Ho Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders, to undertake an urgent assessment and rehabilitation of the damaged bridge.

Some commuters described the development as a serious threat to public safety and appealed for immediate intervention to prevent further deterioration and possible loss of lives and property.

Authorities are expected to inspect the structure to determine the extent of damage as efforts are made to restore safe passage along the route.
