Labolabo (E/R) May 21, GNA – The Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly has the cut sod for the construction of several development projects across communities in the municipality as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare, education, and clean water there.

The projects, which are expected to benefit residents in communities such as Asinersi, Labolabo, Klo-Agogo, and Brukum Maumi, include the construction of CHPS compounds, borehole water systems with overhead tanks and treatment plants, and classroom blocks.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency, the Municipal Chief Executive of Yilo Krobo, Mr Francis Addo Akumatey, said the initiative formed part of President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda” aimed at accelerating development and improving the living conditions of people in underserved communities.

He stated that one of the key projects was a borehole water system with an overhead tank at Asinersi to help provide residents with access to safe and clean drinking water.

He added that another major project at Labolabo involved the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

“We cut the sod for a borehole water project with an overhead tank at Asenersi. At Labolabo, we will be constructing a CHPS compound, which will be fully equipped with the required medical devices and tools to improve healthcare delivery,” he said.

Mr Akumatey disclosed further that at Klo-Agogo, the Assembly has commenced plans for the construction of a borehole water project with a treatment plant and overhead tank, as well as a three-unit classroom block at the Presbyterian JHS School.

The classroom facility, he noted, would include offices, stores, and other auxiliary facilities to create a conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.

He also said that an additional borehole project with an overhead tank and treatment plant would be constructed at Brukum Maumi CHPS compound to enhance health care delivery.

The MCE explained that all the projects were being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across the municipality.

He assured residents that the Assembly would closely monitor the projects to ensure their timely completion and called on community members to support contractors to enable them to deliver quality work for the benefit of the Yilo Krobo enclave.
