Accra, May 27, GNA – Women in Tech Ghana has presented its Activity and Community Engagement Award, received at the 5th Women in Tech Global Summit Gala Dinner in Cape Town, to two of its key sponsors.

The award was presented to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited in recognition of their continued support for the Chapter’s initiatives.

The presentation was made during separate visits to the organisations in Accra, where the delegation was received by Mr Kwame Kpekpena, Acting Managing Director of ECG, and Mrs Gloria Opoku-Anti, Executive Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

At ECG, Mrs Luvina Sandra Atsu, Chapter Director of Women in Tech Ghana, commended the company for its strong commitment to gender equity.

She noted that ECG had demonstrated leadership through its Gender and Social Inclusion Division, headed by Mrs Rosemond Asamoa-Frimpong.

Mrs Atsu said the company actively supported initiatives aimed at empowering women within the organisation and the wider community, creating opportunities for women to advance in technical and leadership roles.

“Through these efforts, ECG fosters an inclusive workplace culture that prioritizes equal representation, professional development, and leadership advancement for women,” she said.

She added that the company’s initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those relating to gender equality and empowerment.

Mrs Atsu indicated that such efforts contributed significantly to national and global development objectives while strengthening institutional capacity.

She also acknowledged ECG’s support, which enabled the Chapter to donate learning equipment to pupils of St. James Anglican Basic 1 Junior High School at Teiman.

At Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs Atsu praised the company for its continued commitment to supporting programmes that empower women across the technology ecosystem.

She said the company had demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing gender inclusion at a critical time when such efforts were essential.

“This recognition highlights a shared vision; a future where women are fully represented and empowered in tech and beyond,” she added.

Mrs Atsu expressed appreciation to Zoomlion for its unwavering support and dedication to championing gender-focused initiatives.
