Some 1,640 Candidates Begin BECE in Anloga District in Calm Atmosphere

Anloga (V/R), May 04, GNA — A total of 1,640 candidates have commenced their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Anloga District under a calm and orderly atmosphere. 

The figure comprises 827 boys and 813 girls who are writing the examination across eight centres. 

The centres include Anlo Technical Institute with 142 candidates, Zion College with 297 candidates, Anlo Senior High School with 298 candidates, and Tegbi Kpota EP Basic School hosting 254 candidates. Anyanui LA Basic School also has 287 candidates. 

In the Kome-Shime area, Agortoe EP Basic School is hosting 77 candidates, Atito EP Basic School has 111 candidates, while Kaledzi JHS at Blemazado has 174 candidates. 

The District Examination Officer, Mr. Godknows Agbakpe, disclosed the figures to the Ghana News Agency (GNA). 

According to him, 320 candidates have registered to write French, while 1,619 candidates will write Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with a total of 57 invigilators deployed across the centres. 

A visit by the GNA to some centres along the littoral, particularly the Zion College centre, revealed a generally calm atmosphere, with candidates exhibiting confidence and optimism on the first day of the examination. 

Mr. Agbakpe noted that, as of the first day, there were no recorded cases involving pregnant or nursing candidates. 

“We have completed all necessary preparations ahead of the examinations. Candidates are expected to remain focused and refrain from any form of examination malpractice,” he stated. 

Meanwhile, other district officials toured various centres to encourage candidates as they began the examinations. 

Over 620,000 candidates nationwide have begun the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which is expected to end on Monday, May 11, 2026.
