Tamale, May 21, GNA – Radio Tamale, based in Tamale, has launched its 10th anniversary celebrations to reflect on the station’s contribution to community development over the past decade.
The anniversary celebration, which will be climaxed later this year, is on the theme: “Celebrating a Decade of Amplifying Voices and Connecting Northern Ghana”.
Various activities, including media seminars, will be held as part of the celebrations.
Mr Mornahson Mornah, the General Manager, Radio Tamale, speaking during the launch in Tamale, said the anniversary celebration was also an opportunity to reposition the media organisation for future growth in an evolving media landscape.
The launch was attended by traditional authorities, politicians, religious leaders and media practitioners amongst others.
Radio Tamale was established 10 years ago with the vision of creating a platform to inform, educate and entertain while giving ordinary people the opportunity to have their voices heard.
Mr Mornah emphasised that, “despite challenges, which include financial and technical difficulties, the station has remained resilient and has grown into a trusted companion in homes, offices and marketplaces across northern Ghana.”
He said feedback and support from the station’s listeners had contributed significantly to its growth and survival over the years.
He said: “Radio Tamale remains committed to strengthening quality journalism, empowering young broadcasters, embracing innovation and expanding its reach to better serve the people of Northern Ghana and beyond.”
He commended past and present staff members of the station for their dedication and professionalism as well as expressed appreciation to advertisers, sponsors, development partners, traditional authorities and religious leaders for their continuous support and confidence in the vision of the station.


Mr Alhassan Suhuyini, the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, who is also Member of Parliament for Tamale North, commended Radio Tamale for its contribution to the development of the region.
He said the station had amplified the voices and concerns of farmers, youth, traditional authorities and ordinary citizens, while promoting development-oriented discussions.
Mr Adam Abubakari Takoro, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, commended the station for its professionalism and commitment to ethical journalism, describing it as one of the key media stakeholders supporting Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region.
