Nkwanta (O/R), May 27, GNA – Pastor Vincent Quarm, Head Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Sabon District in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, has cautioned the youth against the abuse of hard drugs, warning that the practice could destroy their future and negatively impact society.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Pastor Quarm said drug abuse drives young people away from God and adversely affects their mental health, behaviour and general well-being.
He noted that the future growth and stability of every society depended largely on its youth, stressing that indulgence in hard drugs could prevent many young people from achieving their goals and becoming responsible citizens.
Pastor Quarm therefore urged parents and guardians not to conceal the wrongdoing of their children when they observe signs of drug abuse or unhealthy behaviour.
He encouraged them to seek timely professional help to prevent situations from worsening.
The pastor also emphasised the need for parents to pay close attention to the emotional and mental well-being of their wards and seek assistance from mental health professionals when necessary.
He said early intervention, guidance, counselling and community support could help save many young people from addiction and its associated consequences.
Pastor Quarm advised the youth to remain focused, avoid bad influence and uphold values that would make them useful and productive members of society.
