Sunyani (Bono Region), May 30, 2026 (GNA) – MTN Ghana, a leading telecommunications company, will officially launch the 2026 edition of its flagship employee volunteerism initiative, 21 Days of Y’ello Care, from June 1 to June 21, 2026.
This year’s campaign seeks to address critical healthcare challenges in Ghana by equipping health facilities with hospital beds and implementing a range of community-based health interventions.
According to a statement jointly signed by Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, and Efua Falconer, Acting Senior Manager for Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, the campaign has, over the years, been designed to respond to pressing needs within local communities.
Now in its 19th year, Y’ello Care continues to demonstrate the power of employee-led action in driving meaningful and sustainable change across communities. Since its inception, the initiative has mobilised thousands of MTN employees to support projects in education, healthcare, youth development, and economic empowerment.
The statement, made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, noted that over the past six years, the campaign has expanded its reach through the dedication of MTN employee volunteers, who have contributed significant hours to community engagement efforts.
The campaign has evolved annually to address emerging community needs while aligning with MTN’s purpose of delivering digital solutions that drive Africa’s progress.
The 2026 campaign is themed “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community”, highlighting the persistent healthcare access challenges faced by many Ghanaians, particularly those in rural, remote, and underserved communities.
Despite notable improvements in Ghana’s healthcare sector, the statement noted that many people continue to face barriers to essential health services due to distance, cost, inadequate infrastructure, and shortages of skilled healthcare professionals.
These challenges disproportionately affect women, children, young people, and other vulnerable groups.
As part of Y’ello Care 2026, MTN employees will undertake practical, community-led health initiatives aimed at improving access to preventive, primary, and responsive healthcare services.
The interventions will leverage MTN’s connectivity, digital platforms, and strategic partnerships to expand healthcare access in underserved communities and strengthen long-term health resilience.
Planned activities include the repair and donation of hospital beds, community health outreach and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programmes, digital health education campaigns, telemedicine-enabled services, public health screening programmes to combat the growing incidence of non-communicable diseases, and the use of data and digital tools to enhance healthcare delivery.
By focusing on prevention, early detection, digitally enabled healthcare solutions, and community-based care, the campaign aims to broaden access to healthcare services, strengthen healthcare systems, and improve health outcomes on a larger scale.
Commenting on the initiative, Madam Wiafe stated:
“Y’ello Care reflects our belief that meaningful progress begins with meeting communities where they are. We are focusing our efforts on expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly in communities where it remains out of reach for many.”
She added that MTN is uniquely positioned to help scale equitable healthcare access across Ghana through connectivity, digital innovation, and strategic partnerships.
“Through Y’ello Care 2026, we are leveraging these capabilities to help communities access healthcare services that are more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable,” she said.
In line with MTN’s values, the campaign emphasises collaboration, responsible delivery, and community-led implementation.
Through partnerships with government institutions, non-governmental organisations, and local stakeholders, MTN aims to deliver solutions that address genuine community needs, respect local contexts, and create lasting impact.
Through Y’ello Care, MTN Ghana reaffirms its commitment to promoting inclusive development and strengthening the communities it serves.
MTN Ghana remains the market leader in Ghana’s mobile telecommunications industry, offering a wide range of services under Pay As You Go, Pay Monthly, and Mobile Financial Services platforms. The company is part of the MTN Group, a leading operator in emerging markets with a vision to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world to its customers.
