Gbedema (U/E), May 15, GNA – Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Builsa South Constituency, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block at Gbedema to improve quality education.
The new facility, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) was equipped with auxiliary six-seater water closet, ceiling fans and modern marker boards to facilitate contemporary teaching methods.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr Apaak who is also the Deputy Minister for Education, reaffirmed his dedication to the district’s educational development.
He emphasised that high-quality infrastructure was the bedrock of effective teaching and learning.
Nab Nkrumah Apaarinchang, the Chief of Gbedema, thanked the MP on behalf of the community, noting that the infrastructure would address a critical need for local students.
In a related development, the MP in his quest to close the furniture gap in the area, presented 4,348 mono desks and tables to the District Education Directorate at Fumbisi for distribution to Senior High and Junior High schools across the district.
“Desks are a fundamental requirement for a conducive learning environment. Prioritizing this provision ensures that no student is disadvantaged by a lack of basic furniture,” Dr Apaak said.
He further presented four motorbikes to School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) for monitoring to ensure the long-term success of the investments.
The MP emphasised that a robust supervision was essential for maintaining academic standards, and that the motorbikes would empower the SISOs to conduct more frequent and efficient monitoring of schools within their respective circuits.
Mr Stephen Ajubil Akumzeyam, the Deputy Director in charge of Monitoring and Supervision in the District, who received the items lauded the MP’s continuous support for education in the area and said the donated items would be distributed fairly across the district.
