Akatsi (VR), May 8, GNA-Residents of Akatsi South in the Volta Region on Friday embarked on a massive clean-up exercise aimed at improving environmental sanitation and promoting healthy living within the municipality.
The exercise, which ran from 0530 hours to 1000 hours, brought together assembly members, business owners, youth groups, and other key stakeholders who actively participated in cleaning various parts of the township.
Mr Daniel Dagba, The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, who joined participants in the clean-up activities, expressed appreciation to all individuals and groups who supported the exercise and contributed to its success.
He commended residents and stakeholders for their commitment towards maintaining a clean environment and urged the public to make sanitation a regular responsibility rather than a periodic activity.
Mr Dagba further called on community members and all stakeholders to strictly adhere to sanitation directives and actively participate in future clean-up exercises organised by the authorities to help maintain a healthy and clean environment.

He warned that the Assembly would not hesitate to bring to order individuals or groups who fail to comply with sanitation directives, stressing the need for collective responsibility in ensuring environmental cleanliness within the municipality.
Some residents and business owners in the GNA engaged, expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that regular clean-up exercises would help prevent flooding and reduce the outbreak of sanitation-related diseases, especially during the rainy season.
The exercise formed part of the Assembly’s and stakeholders’ efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and ensure a healthier community for residents.
