Leadership Handbook Launch to Spark National Dialogue on Courageous Reforms

By Frank Kwame Abbor

Sogakope (V/R), May 18, GNA — The launch of The Storm Within: The Rise of a Vilified Leader, a new leadership handbook, is expected to spark national conversations on transformational leadership, institutional reforms, accountability, and ethical governance.

The event, scheduled for May 29, 2026, at the Royal Shekinah City Conference Hall in Sogakope, will bring together stakeholders from government, academia, business, civil society, the diplomatic community, and religious groups to deliberate on leadership and societal transformation.

The handbook examines the challenges, resistance, and sacrifices often faced by leaders who confront broken systems, institutional complacency, corruption, and entrenched inefficiencies within organisations and society.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency ahead of the launch, the author, Alex Kwasi Akotey, said the book was inspired by the urgent need for principled leadership capable of restoring trust and hope in institutions.

“Transformational leadership is rarely convenient,” he said. “Those who challenge broken systems are often misunderstood before they are appreciated.”

Organisers described the event as more than a literary gathering, noting that it would serve as a platform for meaningful discussions on courageous leadership, responsible governance, and institutional renewal.

Mr Akotey said the handbook encourages leaders to remain courageous, ethical, and resilient amid criticism, resistance, and institutional pressure.

“This work is for leaders who believe leadership is not merely about occupying positions, but about responsibility, stewardship, and impact,” he added.

The programme will feature a keynote address by Kenneth Dzirasah, lawyer, former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and former Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency.

Activities lined up for the launch include a formal book review by governance and leadership experts, the author’s address, an unveiling ceremony, networking opportunities, and a book-signing session.

The event is themed: â€śLeadership Beyond Resistance: Transforming Broken Systems with Courage and Vision.”

Mr Akotey, known for mentoring emerging leaders across sectors, advocates principled leadership grounded in integrity, accountability, courage, and social responsibility.

He explained that the handbook draws from practical leadership experiences and provides frameworks for navigating criticism, uncertainty, institutional complexity, and high-stakes decision-making.

“Leadership must create value not only for organisations but also for communities and future generations,” he said. “True leadership is measured by the legacy it leaves behind.”

The launch is expected to attract policymakers, students, professionals, entrepreneurs, civil society actors, and leadership enthusiasts from across the country.
