Dambai (O/R), May 24, GNA – Victims of a recent fire outbreak in a Fulani community in the Krachi East Municipality have expressed frustration over what they describe as the lack of sympathy and support from the Municipal Assembly following a fire outbreak.
The fire, which occurred on May 17, 2026, destroyed four houses and rendered several families homeless.
The blaze also consumed foodstuffs, clothing, household items, and materials prepared for an upcoming wedding ceremony, worsening the plight of the affected residents.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Khadija Sani and some of the victims said no official from the Municipal Assembly had visited the scene or provided any form of assistance since the disaster occurred.
According to them, the situation had deepened their hardship and left them feeling abandoned.
“We have lost everything in the fire, but up to now, no one from the Assembly has come to check on us or offer any help. It shows they do not care about us,” one of the victims lamented.
The affected residents appealed to the Krachi East Municipal Assembly, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and other benevolent organisations to support them with relief items, temporary shelter, and assistance to rebuild their lives.
They further called on individuals, philanthropists, and non-governmental organisations to come to their aid as they struggle to recover from the devastating incident.
