Ho (V/R), Sept. 02, GNA – The Ho Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Volta Regional Environmental Health and Sanitation Ladies Association (ENVIRON LADIES) and wives of key leaders in authority in the region, will on Thursday, September 3, 2026undertake a major clean-up exercise across the municipality.
The exercise forms part of activities to observe the National Sanitation Day for September and is aimed at mobilising residents and institutions to clean, clear, sweep, weed, desilt and beautify public spaces within the Oxygen City.
A statement signed by Mr Henry Yao Amesimeku, the Municipal Coordinating Director, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the exercise would begin at 0600 hours and end at 1000 hours.
The statement said institutions, churches, schools and other identified groups had been assigned specific areas to undertake the clean-up exercise.
Under the special assignment schedule, the GCB, Stanbic and Fidelity Banks, together with ENVIRON LADIES from Agortime-Ziope, will clean the stretch from the Guinness/Coca-Cola Depot to the Sky Plus Hotel Junction.
The ECG-through-Lokoe-to-UHAS Junction Roundabout stretch will be handled by E.P. Church women, the Fire and Prisons services and their wives, ENVIRON LADIES from Ho West, SSNIT, SIC and ECG staff.
The Ghana Beauticians and Hairdressers Association (GHABA) the Police Service and their wives, Mawuko Senior High School and ENVIRON LADIES from Adaklu will undertake the cleaning from the Ahoe Roundabout to the Power House, while the Alinco Filling Station-Zongo to Market stretch will be handled by other designated groups.
The Guinness/Coca-Cola Depot to Star Oil Filling Station stretch at Lokoe will involve the Police Training School and Pentecost Church women, while MTN, ENVIRON LADIES from South Dayi and the NPP Ladies Wing will undertake the assignment at the Kpenoe Junction-to-Zongo Junction. Assignment.
Personnel of the 66 Artillery Regiment and their wives, together with the Ho Municipal Assembly’s Environmental Health and Sanitation team, will also participate in the exercise.
At the Ho Market and Lorry Station, NDC Ladies and all market women have been assigned to undertake the clean-up activities.
The Assembly further directed all public and private schools in the municipality to undertake similar cleaning, weeding and beautification activities within and around their school environments.
The statement also called on chiefs and Assembly Members to mobilise residents in their respective communities to join the special assignment nearest to them.
The Assembly urged residents, institutions and community leaders to participate actively in the exercise, stressing that a clean environment required collective responsibility.
“Let us work together to keep Ho clean, green and beautiful,” the statement said.
