Paga (U/E), May 3, GNA – Kacstone Records, a cultural and music development company, has donated six waste bins to the Paga Market Traders Association to support sanitation efforts and promote environmental cleanliness in the Kassena-Nankana West District.
Mr Raymond Adda, a Member of the Paga Youth Movement, made the donation on behalf of Mr Wenawome Duriyem Aborah and Mr Michael Adangba, the Managing Directors of the company, as part of the organisation’s commitment to supporting local initiatives aimed at maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The gesture followed the team’s observation of the monthly national clean-up exercise in the district, where market women and other stakeholders actively participated in cleaning their surroundings.
Presenting the items, Mr Adda noted that the donation was inspired by the dedication of the traders towards sanitation and their consistent involvement in the National Sanitation Day activities.
“We observed the commitment of the market women during the clean-up exercise, and it was evident that they are determined to maintain a clean trading environment. As an organisation, we believe it is our responsibility to support such efforts,” he said.
He explained that the provision of the waste bins was to help improve waste management practices in the market and reduce indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
Mr Adda further urged traders and residents to make good use of the bins and adopt proper waste disposal habits to sustain the gains made through the clean-up exercises.
“We encourage everyone to be custodians of the environment. Keeping our surroundings clean is a shared responsibility, and small actions like proper waste disposal can make a significant difference,” he added.
Ms Samitu Kumuriwo, the Spokesperson of the Paga Market Traders Association, expressed gratitude to Kacstone Records for the timely intervention.
She said the lack of adequate waste bins had been a major challenge for traders, particularly on busy market days, and described the donation as a relief that would enhance sanitation in the market.
“We are grateful to Kacstone Records for this support and the other support they have offered to us, including the renovation of our market. These bins will go a long way to help us manage waste better and keep the market clean. We assure them that we will take good care of the bins and use them for the intended purpose,” she said.
She also reaffirmed the commitment of the traders to maintaining a clean and hygienic market environment and called on other organisations to emulate the gesture.
The donation forms part of broader efforts by private sector actors to complement government initiatives in promoting environmental sanitation and public health in local communities.
