Accra, May 20 – Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), a flagship cultural pageant by TV3, will mark its 20th anniversary with an expanded prize package and a series of activities aimed at celebrating its impact over the past two decades.
During a press launch on Wednesday, organisers said the winner of the 20th edition would receive a new crown, a car, a cash prize of GHC 200,000, a scholarship for a master’s programme and a gold jewellery set.
The winner would also earn the opportunity to represent Ghana at the Miss Earth global pageant and secure an ambassadorial deal with a sponsoring brand.
In a welcome address, Mr Augustine Dickson, Head of Station at Media General, said the pageant, which began 20 years ago, had grown from a television show into a platform for cultural expression and empowerment.
“Twenty years ago, a vision was born by TV3 to create a platform that would not only entertain but also empower and preserve the rich cultural identity of Ghana,” he said.
Mr Dickson noted that the initiative had evolved into what he described as a national cultural asset, adding that it had served as a springboard for young women to excel in education and other fields.
Madam Akofa Banson, General Manager of the 3Group at Media General, said the pageant had played a significant role in youth empowerment and national development over the years.
“The impact of Ghana’s Most Beautiful over the years has been remarkable, and we are celebrating 20 years of excellence and storytelling,” she said.
According to Madam Banson, the 20th anniversary would include a Royal Ball at the Labadi Beach Hotel on June 6, to raise funds for a legacy project aimed at supporting community development initiatives.
The weekly live shows for this year’s competition would begin on July 26 on TV3, with the grand finale scheduled for October 18, 2026, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Organisers also announced plans for additional activities, including a fashion show and a folklore-themed event at the University of Ghana Amphitheatre, as part of efforts to broaden the celebrations.
Ms Isabella Etornam Gagblezu, winner of the 2025 edition, urged prospective contestants to take advantage of the platform.
She said winning the crown had significantly impacted her life, providing opportunities to engage with communities and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.
