ECG working tirelessly to resolve power challenges – Hohoe Manager

Hohoe (V/R), May 19, GNA – Mr Antwi Kwasi Boasiako, the Hohoe Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has assured customers that the Company is working tirelessly around the clock to address the low voltage challenges being experienced in the area.

He said the Government, in collaboration with GRIDCo and ECG, was undertaking strategic interventions to improve power supply reliability in the Volta and Oti Regions.

Mr Boasiako gave the assurance when he addressed the Hohoe Municipal General Assembly, noting that there was an ongoing upgrade of the transmission network capacity from 69kV to 161kV in the regions.

He indicated that the backlog of applications for meters had been cleared, adding that new applicants would receive their meters without delay.

Mr Boasiako disclosed that power theft accounted for about 27.14 per cent of losses to the Company and cautioned residents against engaging in illegal connections or purchasing foreign meters.

He therefore urged customers to visit ECG offices and engage only authorised personnel for meter acquisition and related services, rather than dealing with unknown individuals.

Mr Boasiako further called for public cooperation with accredited ECG officers responsible for meter reading, disconnection, reconnection, and distribution of electricity bills.

He also announced that prepaid electricity meter cards, which were previously out of stock, were now available, following a period of shortage that caused inconvenience to customers in the Municipality.
