Accra, May 4, GNA – An Adenta Circuit Court has remanded a couple into police custody for allegedly robbing an accountant of GH¢10,000.
The accused, Steve Amuzu and Makafui Anyomi Amuzu, have denied the charges.
The court has directed prosecution to file disclosures and serve them on the accused persons and their lawyers.
They are expected to reappear on May 5, 2026.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Patience Mario, told the court that the complainant, an Accountant residing at Mataheko, Accra, was lured into the matrimonial home of Makafui, who had previously sought financial assistance from him.
The court heard that Makafui conspired with her husband and eight accomplices to extort money from the complainant.
During the encounter, Steven and the accomplices emerged, threatened the complainant with scissors, and robbed him of GH¢10,000 belonging to his company.
The prosecution said the accused later threatened to release a video of the complainant and Makafui, extorting additional sums of money.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police, leading to their arrest.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the eight accomplices.
