Anaji (W/R), May 19, GNA – The Most Reverend Professor Johnson Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, has dedicated the Christ the King Methodist Chapel at Anaji Estate Circuit in the Sekondi Diocese, with a call on Christians to live as the true temples of the Holy Spirit.
Preaching on the theme: “The People of God as the Temple of the Spirit,” at the dedication service, the Presiding Bishop emphasised that a church building would be meaningless if members failed to live lives worthy of their calling.
He explained that the purpose of the temple was to proclaim the mighty acts of God and the lordship of Jesus Christ.
“The physical temple will mean nothing if people in the church do not submit to God’s control and live lives worthy of the Spirit,” he said.
The Most Rev Prof Asamoah-Gyadu noted that the chapel’s dedication coincided with the church’s observance of the Ascension of Christ and Pentecost, describing both as significant events that underscore the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church.
He urged believers to glorify God in their bodies, both as individuals and as a community, stressing that when God’s Spirit dwells in people, it sanctifies them for His glory.
The Presiding Bishop paid tribute to the Very Reverend Isaac Kwame Ghartey, Superintendent Minister of the Anaji Estate Circuit and Minister in charge of the Christ the King Methodist Chapel; the Right Reverend Kwesi Ansah, Diocesan Bishop of Sekondi; Mr Justice Amoh (Justmoh), Lay Chairman of the Sekondi Diocese; as well as past ministers of the circuit, for their contributions towards the construction of the chapel.
The Christ the King Methodist Chapel, established on March 13, 1976, has witnessed growth in evangelism, discipleship and social outreach in fulfilment of the Great Commission.
