Central University inaugurates Law School Advisory Board to enhance legal education

Accra, May 31, GNA – The Central University has inaugurated an Advisory Board of its Law School aimed at strengthening legal education, professional mentorship, and institutional development. 

The inauguration ceremony marked a significant milestone in the University’s efforts to position the Central Law School among the leading centres of legal education in Ghana and beyond. 

The Advisory Board is chaired by Justice Sophia Akuffo, former Chief Justice, and comprises accomplished legal practitioners, jurists, academics, and professionals with extensive experience in the legal sector. 

The members include David Ofosu-Dorte, Senior Partner at AB & David Africa; Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, Justice of the Court of Appeal; Agbesi Kwadzo Dzakpasu, Partner at Lexkudoz Unlimited; and Lydia Osei Marfo, Justice of the Court of Appeal. 

The others are Doreen Adoma Agyei, Lecturer at the KNUST Faculty of Law; Eva Okyere, Senior Associate at Ghartey & Ghartey; Kwaku Agyeman-Budu, Dean of the GIMPA Law School; Bessy Agyeiwaa Crentsil, Private Legal Practitioner; and Francisca Kakra Forson, Lawyer and Media and Communications Strategist. 

Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, Dean of the Central Law School, also serves as a member of the Advisory Board. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Kwasi Dartey-Baah, Vice Chancellor of Central University, said the establishment of the Advisory Board reflected the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and transformative legal education. 

He noted that the Board would provide strategic guidance to support the growth and development of the Law School while helping to bridge the gap between legal education and professional practice. 

The Vice Chancellor said the University remained committed to producing highly skilled legal professionals equipped with the knowledge, integrity, and leadership qualities needed to contribute meaningfully to national development and the justice delivery system. 

He expressed confidence that the Board’s wealth of expertise and experience would contribute significantly to advancing the Law School’s academic programmes, research agenda, professional training, and stakeholder engagement. 

The inauguration, attended by distinguished members of the legal profession, academia, and industry, forms part of broader efforts by the University to build a dynamic and forward-looking legal education ecosystem anchored on professional integrity, leadership, innovation, and excellence. 

Participants commended the University for assembling a high-calibre Advisory Board and expressed optimism that its guidance would strengthen the Law School’s capacity to train the next generation of legal professionals and leaders for Ghana and beyond.
