Tumu, (UWR), May 04, GNA – Candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Sissala East Municipality have described the early morning showers as a sign of good omen and a glimmer of hope for them in the examination.
Ambra Danyila, a candidate from the Tumu JHS, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that rain is a sign of good luck and a sign of hope for the candidates, as it would save them from the intense heat of the past days.
Mr Adamu Yakubu, the Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), earlier met the candidates at the Kanton Senior High Centres ‘A’ and ‘B’ to wish them good luck and to motivate them saying,” See these exams as a normal classroom text and don’t panic”.
He urged them to give their best in the exams to make the Municipality proud and announced that the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area had taken an initiative to feed the students and the invigilators throughout the exams.
Mr Charles Lewil Charles, the Sissala East Municipal Director of Education, advised the candidates to be serious about the exams, which was a crucial period of their lives.
He encouraged them to relax, be disciplined, and take their time to read all instructions before answering the questions
He admonished the candidates and the invigilators to avoid exam malpractice, since that was a crime and anyone caught in that regard would be made to face the full rigours of the law.
Mr Cornelius Langyintuo, the Sissala East Exams Officer, said a total of 1,443 students are writing the exams in that Municipality, comprising 843 girls and 600 boys, in three centres with 63 schools participating.
At Kanton Senior High A, Mr Bating Dimah Yusif, the supervisor, told the GNA that 508 candidates from 20 communities were writing in that centre, and no issues had been recorded so far.
Madam Sophai Mulika, supervisor for Kanton Senior High ‘B’, said 455 candidates from 24 schools were sitting for the exams in that centre.
Also, at the Tumu Senior Technical school, Madam Dorcas Danonu, the supervisor, said 484 candidates, comprising 217 females and 266 males, were expected to write the exams in that centre.
